The brief

The brief

Icy Cream is a new ice cream brand that wants nothing to do with nostalgia. No vintage trucks, no pastel softness, no retro typography. Instead: colour, boldness, fun, and quality. A modern ice cream brand that appeals to young adults and families alike with a personality loud enough to stand out in a freezer full of competitors.

The brand didn't exist yet. No logo, no visual system, no packaging direction. Just an attitude and a product. Our job was to turn that energy into a visual identity that works on a cup, a shop sign, a social post, and everything in between.

How we tackled it

We started with the audience. Ice cream is emotional. People don't compare nutritional labels in a scoop shop. They choose with their gut: which brand feels the most fun, the most inviting, the most them? For young adults, the brand needs to be photogenic and unapologetically bold. For families, it needs to feel joyful and approachable. The identity had to hit both notes without watering either one down.

We also looked at the competitive landscape. Most ice cream brands either go retro-cute or premium-minimal. Icy Cream needed to sit in a completely different lane: modern, colourful, and full of character.

Our approach

A colour system inspired by flavours. The palette isn't random. Each colour is drawn from recognisable ice cream flavours: strawberry pink, pistachio green, mango orange, vanilla cream. This gives the brand a natural connection to the product while keeping the visual system vibrant and varied. Different flavours, different colours, same unmistakable brand.

A mascot that gives the brand a face. We designed a brand mascot that adds a layer of personality and recognition. It makes the brand more playful and more memorable, especially for younger audiences and families. The mascot works across packaging, social media, signage, and merchandise. It's the kind of detail that turns a brand from something you buy into something you remember.

Bold but built to last. The visual system is loud and expressive, but it's not trendy. Every element was designed to age well. The typography is clean and confident. The layout system is structured enough to stay coherent across wildly different applications. Icy Cream can grow, add flavours, open locations, and launch new products without the brand feeling stretched or dated.

The result

Icy Cream now has a brand identity that's impossible to confuse with anyone else in the category. The colour system ties directly to the product. The mascot gives the brand instant recognition and personality. And the visual system is designed to scale with the business, from a single scoop shop to a national brand, without losing what makes it distinctive.
